This Year’s San Diego Auto Show Full of Firsts

There’s a whole lot of firsts at this year’s San Diego Auto Show, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune‘s Mark Maynard. It includes the 10 test drives available for visitors and the People’s Choice awards where you get to pick the best car. Oh, and there’s also the scratch-and-sniff program that was printed by the newspaper and the Firefighter’s Ball tonight. Read more»

Car Show off to a busy start, looks great

I popped in on the San Diego International Auto Show this morning and there was a big line to get in when the doors opened at 10 a.m. From one end of the hall to the other, there’s a see of new cars, trucks and SUVs.

A few things did stand out in my quick run through the hall… Camp Jeep is back and as impressive as ever. Just seeing Wranglers, Grand Cherokee and other Jeep vehicles rolling round on this slow-moving roller coaster is cool… even more so when you consider the whole thing is inside the Convention Center.

The popular Wall of Cars is back, filled with Scions… and don’t ask me how they get them three stories up.

Looks like a fun show; if you’re there on Saturday, stop by the Union-Tribune booth in the afternoon. I’ll be hanging out with auto editor Mark Maynard and KUSI car guy Dave Stall. More info»
