As much as I love New England, I love California more. And we have some great spots here for leaf peeping. Since our state is so large and has such a diverse climate, fall color can be available into December, which is sometimes when the liquidambar street trees turn ablaze in front of my downtown San Diego condo.
A couple of years back, I took a cruise down the twisty roads following the Feather River Canyon in Northern California. It’s a pretty spectacular place. Turns out it has lots of fall color, as the locals will tell you on their website. There’s a page with driving tours and a blog with the latest status. It’s just about the end of the season, so head on over if you can.
