Tijuana Estuary, Silver Strand and Coronado — Weekend Trip

Here’s a golden oldie… the fourth Weekend Driver column ever, from way back in 2001, with an update in 2003. It’s Valley of Contrasts, the Tijuana River Estuary. It’s also one of the few chapters from my book, Weekend Driver San Diego, that have been posted online. It was a tease, if you will, to hook folks into possibly buying the book, which, sadly, is out of print (some copies might still be available).

This is one of my favorite drives. Right in the middle of our megalopolis but so many natural, peaceful areas. And while there are a few bad traffic spots (Imperial Beach Boulevard and Orange Avenue come to mind), most of it is pleasant driving.

The video is from 2004 when I did a few drives with Channel 10.

Updates… you might not be able to get into Border Field State Park and the rent-a-horse stables are gone. Otherwise, enjoy Valley of Contrasts.
